If you haven’t noticed, it’s cold out there!
Winter is here and so is the cold weather. During extremely cold weather events we often see frozen or burst water pipes which are not only inconvenient, but very unpleasant to repair. This year take a few precautions as an ounce of prevention and you will reap the warm comforts all winter long.
▪ Locate your master shutoff valve and make certain that it is working.
▪ Disconnect all outdoor hoses.
▪ Insulate pipes or faucets in any unheated area such as garages, crawl space, porches,
etc. Wrap all pipes before the temperature plummets.
▪ Seal off all access doors, air vents, and cracks.
Even with our best efforts pipes occasionally still freeze. If you know that you are already predisposed to frozen pipes, try letting a tap drip during extreme cold periods. This keeps the water moving and helps to avoid freezing. Should your line freeze despite these efforts, please call. We will do all that we can to help get your water flowing again.
DON’T FORGET: Winter time will often sneak up on us and we forget to winterize our sprinkling systems. Take time in the coming week to make certain your sprinkler lines are drained and your stop and waste is turned off.
